FM 27 New Features
FM27 brings back Cup Draws and Deadline Day, adds Tactical Effectiveness and touchline Tactical Tweaks, and rebuilds navigation after the criticism FM26's interface received. The official list covers eight areas, grouped below with what each change means for your save.
FM26 to FM27 at a glance
FM26 launched on 4 November 2025, and Sports Interactive later named navigation and immersion as the priorities for the next game. Most rows below follow from that decision.
| Area | Before FM27 | In FM27 |
|---|---|---|
| Navigation | Tiles showed information and also moved you around | Tiles show information while top menus handle navigation |
| Cards | Clicking a tile opened a card | Many cards are full-screen, so there are fewer windows to close |
| Cup draws | Your next tie arrived in a message | A hosted draw returns with manual and quick options |
| Agent Offers | Arrived on Deadline Day itself | Stay visible on Recruitment for the whole window |
| Tactics system | Tactical Familiarity | Tactical Effectiveness, built from four measured areas |
| Shouts | Small attribute boosts | Direct changes to mental state, with a staff summary |
| Training | Outside the primary menu | One of six primary sections, with schedule copy and paste back |
| Multiplayer draft | Fantasy Draft | Shuffle Draft, made with FIFAe |
| Favourite club | Could not be set | Choose up to four before a career begins |
| Scout reports | A tile opened from the message | The report sits inside the message |
| Heat Maps | Missing from matches | Back with Action Zones in the match UI and Data Hub |
Tactical changes
Tactics get the deepest rule change: a new effectiveness system built on Tactical Familiarity, and in-match controls that no longer send you to the Tactics screen.
- Tactical Effectiveness
- Four areas feed gauges on the Tactics, Training and Recruitment screens.
- Tactical Complexity
- More instructions raise the score, so detailed plans take longer to bed in.
- Tactical Tweaks
- Team and individual changes from the touchline, with no limit on how many run together.
- Training
- Senior squads now work on match preparation, with sessions aimed at pressing or build-up.
Match day presentation
Crowds, stadiums and light now follow the fixture, so a 3pm kick-off in December no longer looks like the same slot in August.
- Crowds
- Fans wear club shirts with layers that suit the weather, wave flags and sound different at each level of football.
- Stadiums
- The widest range of stands, corners and roofs so far, while grass and trees change with the season.
- Time of day
- Light, shadows and weather shift during the 90 minutes, so a game can end under floodlights.
- Pitches
- Rain makes the surface look wetter, and snow builds up as a match goes on.
- Cutscenes
- Each shot has several camera angles, so one sequence can play out in hundreds of combinations.
- 2D view
- Smaller discs show feet instead of arrows, the ball casts a stronger shadow and nets are more transparent.
Management and the transfer market
Two calendar events return, and the market around them gets new rules on young players, sell-on clauses and spending.
- Cup Draws
- A host runs the draw, and you can pull the next team, draw everyone or speed up the automatic draw.
- Deadline Day
- The restored day caps a window in which Agent Offers build up on the Recruitment screen.
- Young players
- They weigh game time more, so the stepping-stone promise carries extra value in contract talks.
- Sell-on clauses
- A sell-on fee now shows in Scout Reports, and the selling club asks for more to cover it.
- Spending rules
- Squad Cost Ratio rules arrive alongside adjusted global spending.
- Work permits
- English competition bands are regraded, and Elite Significant Contribution permits are limited to Under-23 players.
- Concussion
- A protocol built with the PFA medical team requires clearance from a neurologist before a player returns.
- Status flags
- Up to three stack again, with new flags for language courses, coaching badges, leadership training and reserve or youth availability.
- Women's teams
- Sides in FIFA competitions must employ at least two female backroom staff, one as Head Coach or Assistant Coach.
Interface and navigation
Six renamed menu sections, more full-screen views and a rebuilt inbox reduce the clicks between decisions.
- Menus
- Portal, Squad, Tactics, Recruitment, Training and Club form the primary navigation.
- Control panels
- Main screens open with their key actions at the top of the page.
- Scaling
- Large, Medium and Small modes are available on 1440p and 4K monitors.
- Continue Flow
- Four presets decide how often the game stops as you click through the weeks.
Manager creation
Manager Creator gains more ways to shape your manager's look, and it restores the favourite club choice.
- Body and face
- More body types and ethnicity options, with updated skin, facial features and facial hair.
- Clothing
- Woollen hats, caps, scarves, gloves and a shirt and jumper combination, with the colour picker back.
- Favourite clubs
- Name up to four before a career starts.
- Wheelchair users
- An electric wheelchair appears from the start screen to match day cutscenes, and trophy lifts use an accessible plinth.
Newgens
Youth intake players look more distinct from one another, which makes a new cohort easier to tell apart at a glance.
- Faces
- Skin, colouring and hair are improved.
- Portraits
- Stronger camera angles and lighting show profiles more clearly.
- Variety
- A wider range of facial poses and positional adjustments separates each player.
- NXGN 50
- The annual message now puts the top 50 wonderkids directly in its body.
Editor and match data
The In-Game Editor becomes a full-screen tool, and the statistics gain extra precision.
- In-Game Editor
- A new full-screen interface groups information better and adds context to editable fields.
- Per-90 stats
- Eight stats, including xG, non-penalty xG and xA, gain extra decimal precision.
- Passes
- Match stats split passes into Short, Medium and Long, and record the completed total beside the success rate.
- Pre-Game Editor
- The Daylight Offside rule trialled in the Canadian Premier League can be switched on for other competitions.
- Database
- Updates include league restructures in Northern Ireland and Wales and new cups in Chile and Peru.
Shuffle Draft
Shuffle Draft takes over from Fantasy Draft as the game's draft mode and is available from the Launch Preview onward.
- Managers
- From 2 to 32 can take part.
- Draft sets
- Each pick comes from a set of 20 players.
- Where to play
- Offline against AI teams, or online in private or public lobbies.
- Recovery
- Players recover fully between matches.
Frequently asked questions
What is new in FM27?
The headline additions are Tactical Effectiveness, Tactical Tweaks and Shuffle Draft, while hosted Cup Draws and Deadline Day return. Match days gain a time-of-day system, and navigation moves into top menus.
What is the biggest difference between FM26 and FM27?
How you move around the game. FM26 used tiles for both information and navigation, while FM27 leaves navigation to primary and secondary menus and opens more screens in full.
Does FM27 still have the 2D match view?
Yes. The classic view stays and gets smaller discs with feet instead of arrows, a stronger ball shadow and more transparent goal nets.
Is Tactical Effectiveness the same as Tactical Familiarity?
No. It builds on the older system but also measures player ability, buy-in and next match information, and its gauges reach the Recruitment screen and Scout Reports.
